Apa itu Imunisasi?
Imunisasi adalah pemberian vaksin agar seseorang menjadi kebal terhadap penularan penyakit tertentu. Vaksin biasanya diberikan melalui suntikan, di dalamnya adalah kuman atau virus dari penyebab penyakit tertentu yang sudah dilemahkan atau bahkan dimatikan. Vaksinasi akan menguatkan sistem kekebalan tubuh sehingga merangsang terbentuknya antibodi.
Bagi anak-anak di Indonesia, imunisasi rutin lengkap terdiri dari dua jenis, yaitu imunisasi dasar dan imunisasi lanjutan. Jadwal imunisasi bergantung dari usia anak. Imunisasi dasar penting sebagai langkah pencegahan utama anak dari penyakit menular, sedangkan untuk tahap lanjutan berguna untuk menjaga imunitas anak tetap optimal seiring bertambahnya usia anak.
Tujuan Pemberian Imunisasi
Pemberian imunisasi merupakan salah satu cara terbaik untuk melindungi diri dari panyakit berbahaya sampai penyakit yang dapat menyebabkan kematian. Jika seseorang telah menerima imunisasi maka tubuhnya lebih mampu menghadapi infeksi penyakit.
Dengan mendapatkan imunisasi seseorang tidak hanya melindungi dirinya sendiri, tetapi juga melindungi orang-orang di sekitarnya. Misalnya jika di suatu komunitas masyarakat banyak yang mendapatkan imunisasi artinya semakin banyak orang yang kebal terhadap penyakit dan semakin sedikit kemungkinan penyebarannya, hasilnya orang-orang yang belum mendapatkan imunisasi juga ikut terlindungi, ini dikenal dengan istilah herd immunity.
Jenis-jenis Imunisasi
Imunisasi yang dilakukan lewat pemberian vaksin terdapat banyak jenisnya bergantung dari kebutuhannya untuk melawan penyakit tertentu, berikut ini beberapa vaksin yang wajib diterima bagi penduduk di Indonesia:
- Vaksin Hepatitis B
Tujuan pemberian vaksin untuk mencegah penyakti hepatitis B yang menyerang organ hati.
- Vaksin BCG
Vaksin ini bertujuan untuk mencegah dari penyakit tuberculosis (TBC) yang dapat berkembang menjadi penyakit meningitis (radang selaput otak).
- Vaksin Polio
Vaksin diberikan untuk mencegah penyakit polio yang menyebabkan kelumpuhan permanen.
- Vaksin MR
Vaksin kombinasi untuk mencegah penyakit campak dan rubella, biasanya diberikan pada saat masih anak-anak.
- Vaksin DPT
Merupakan vaksin kombinasi untuk mencegah penyakit difteri yang dapat menyerang pernafasan, pertussis (batuk rejan) yang dapat menyerang anak-anak, dan tetanus yang mengnkontaminasi pada luka.
- Vaksin Influenza
Vaksin untuk mengurangi risiko terkena flu dan komplikasinya.
- Vaksin Campak
Untuk mencegah terkena penyakit campak.
- Vaksin Hib
Vaksin untuk mencegah infeksi bakteri Haemophilius influenza tipe B yang menjadi penyebab meningitis pada anak-anak dibawah 5 tahun.
Kemudian imunisasi pada anak-anak di Indonesia biasanya diberikan berdasarkan umur dan diberikan secara bertahap.

- Vaksin Rotavirus
- 6 – 12 bulan
- Influenza

- Vaksin HPV
- Vaksin Dengue
Efek Samping Imunisasi
Meskipun dipastikan aman, imunisasi juga dapat menyebabkan efek samping sama halnya seperti obat-obatan, efek samping ini biasa disebut juga Kejadian Ikutan Pasca Imunisasi (KIPI). Efek samping yang timbul biasanya hanya reaksi ringan, seperti nyeri di tempat suntikan, ruam dan demam ringan, munculnya reaksi adalah normal dan dapat hilang dengan sendiri setelah beberapa hari.
Ada baiknya sebelum menerima imunisasi lakukan konsultasi dengan dokter terlebih dahulu, beri tahu dokter jika anda atau orang lain sebagai penerima vaksin memiliki riwayat alergi, penyakit autoimun, kanker atau pernah mengkonsumsi obat-obatan. Jika gejala efek samping tidak kunjung mereda atau semakin parah seperti bengkak pada area suntikan, demam tinggi lebih dari 39oC, kejang. Segera cari pertolongan dokter.
